Winter time in the Northeast United States brings large numbers of waterfowl to the region. One of these species is the Hooded Merganser. This bird has a very ornate patterning and the piercing bright yellow eyes adds a level of intensity to the bird. The falling snow adds a nice element of the environment for the species which does not seem to care about the weather due to its highly insulated feathers.
