Winter Bird Photography in the Forest and Flocking Dynamics: Part 1
Bird photography in the winter months within the forest can be a challenge. There are many times when it seems like all the birds have left the area or are extra hard to find. One of the reasons for this is birds in the winter form flocks to help them find food and avoid predators. Understanding this flocking behavior can help us find these birds and create images when these flocks appear. In this Part 1, we discuss the benefits of these flocks in allowing birds to more easily find food.
Photographing Red-Headed Woodpeckers: Part 2
In this Part 2 of photographing Red-Headed Woodpeckers, I take you into my set up and the moment I spotted the woodpecker. I talk about my use of camouflage and staying put and letting the wildlife come to me. I also talk about an amazing encounter I had with a coyote as I was sitting waiting for the woodpeckers to come closer.
